This is a free event held for anyone who may be interested in one day owning a home. The structure of the event provides an opportunity to learn about the process in a non-pressure environment. The First Time Home Buyer Seminar is an information only event. We break down the home buying process so that you can be aware of how it works and what is involved. The ‘talk’ part of the seminar will be about 60 minutes, any additional time will be left open for questions from the group.
We Start With Finances
How do you qualify? How much do you need for a down payment? Credit? RRSP’s? All of the financial jargon you kinda sorta know about… but we will tell you how these things apply to buying a home and what you need to do with them. Sam Lichtman will explain how important affordability is and how a strong financial plan can save you thousands, how to use The First Time Buyers Plan and other cost savings methods.
We Talk About Houses!
Your wish list, must-haves & must not’s, the home inspection, writing an offer and everything else. Kelsey will tell you what kind of defects to watch out for when viewing houses. Kelsey Smith will explain how important it is to do a market analysis before writing an offer so that you don’t overpay! Kelsey will also talk about what deficiencies to watch for when viewing a property and you’ll learn what happens after you find the house you love.
Presentation
Dallas Willness from Alair homes will present a Rent to Own program. Rent to Own programs work in a very specific way for people who understand and are prepared for the risks but they can be excellent resources for people in tricky situations. Dallas will cover how to qualify, what type of home is available and where the money goes.
